really fair? Our production:
Production details:
1) Organic cotton and (natural) dyeing We source GOTS-certified organic cotton from Salem. The untreated cotton is delivered directly to our partner organizations in Erode, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry for dyeing. When choosing our partners, we always make sure to support small businesses. Dyeing is done with vegetable dyes and environmentally friendly dyes.
2) Weaving "widows for widows" The yarns are sent from the dyeing works to the weaving works of Premalaya Handicraft in Tamil Nadu. The orders from Arusha create jobs in the weaving works.
3) Preparing the spindles In order for the shirts to be woven by hand, the cotton threads must first be pulled onto a hand spindle.
4) Preparing the loom Once the spindles have been wound up, the loom can be prepared. Preparing a loom takes 2-3 days. It can be used to weave fabric for about 20 shirts.
5) Tailoring the shirts The shirts are tailored by the Bharat Tailoring Society. The shirt production creates several jobs in the tailoring department.
6) Export of the goods and climate-neutral shipping The goods are delivered to Europe by sea. The journey by ship takes 2 - 3 months. By shipping by ship, the negative impact on the environment is reduced to a minimum.
